A first-class academic student experience Investing in the student experience £520m campus development + 250 UAF A creative and cultural campus It is not all about work, the environment and community where you live and study is also important. You will be with us for 3 or 4 years and so it’s important your time here rewarding and enjoyable. Creative and cultural campus The University is a creative community with a vibrant and distinctive cultural life. There’s no shortage of things on offer to see and do As you walk around you will see our campus has variety of building styles, and our campus public art trail includes sculptures and works that have been designed and created by our own students. Art gallery and Treasures of the Brotherton Gallery which is home to the Library’s Special Collections including Shakespeare’s First Folio Marks and Spencer Company Archive – open to the public but also a fantastic research resource for our students. We are investing heavily in the student experience £520m campus development in our teaching, research and social spaces: Investment in new building and facilities – Recently opened state-of-the art Laidlaw library designed specifically for undergraduate students (open to view today) Planned North East Quarter development integrating Engineering, Physics and Astronomy, and Computing New sports facility – Brownlee Triathlon Centre Refurbishment of existing buildings a major refurbishment and extension of Leeds University Unionto help remain on the UK’s biggest and best Students’ Unions Edward Boyle IT rich library recently reopened £38m refit of the Engineering Building, Worsley building which houses Schools of Medicine and Dentistry, new Fine Art and Geography , Investment in digital learning technology – recognising change in education and students’ expectations Lecture capture system, digitally enabled teaching spaces and re-designed lecture theatres so staff and students can work interactively

Strategic priorities To develop greater flexibility in programme design International and work experience opportunities Breaking down the curricular/co-curricular boundary Collaborative provision Online distance learning (ODL) and ‘unbundled’ programmes Business-like programme approval and retirement Internationalisation of the student experience Leeds Institute for Teaching Excellence (LITE)

Our Aim To provide an outstanding education that will attract, excite and retain high quality students from diverse backgrounds, and equip them to succeed in a competitive global employability market and to make a difference The aspiration that our students should ‘make a difference’ is a statement not just about achievement but about values. Along with the confidence and flexibility of mind they will need to identify and solve problems and face as yet unknown challenges, a Leeds graduate should also, I hope, have a sense that an outstanding education is a huge advantage but also that it carries a responsibility to give something back – not just to change things, but to change things for the better.
