War Moves to New England British move to seize New York City Howe Brothers’ join forces 32,000 soldiers New York’s defense outnumbered and retreat in late August.

Battle of Trenton Washington’s army needed a victory Marched 9 miles through sleet/snow to Trenton, New Jersey in a surprise attack at 6:30 a.m. killing 30 and capturing 918.

Victory at Saratoga General John Burgoyne (British) plan was to take troops down a route of lakes from Canada to Albany to meet Howe’s troops. 4,000 redcoats, 3000 mercenaries, and 1,000 Mohawk sent.
