NAMING OURSELVES Choose an ADJECTIVE that begins with the same letter as your first name. Use the dictionary to make your choice of a complex adjective that truly reveals your personality. EXAMPLES: Barbed Boyd Bluestocking Boyd

DESCRIBING OURSELVES Create two similes that describe important traits of your personality. Follow this format: I am like a ________ because __________________________. Remember that similes are comparisons between two entities, using a word such as like, as, than, or resembles, that highlight a similar quality that both possess. EXAMPLE: She resembles a volcano when she erupts with laughter because her guffaws burst from her mouth and destroy any negativity around her.

EXPLAINING OURSELVES After you have created two similes, choose the one that most accurately describes who you are, and use your composed simile statement as your topic sentence. Then, compose the body of the paragraph that explains your simile and provides evidence that your simile is apt and insightful.
