Stone was the first woman from Massachusetts to earn a college degree She spoke out for women's rights and against slavery at a time when women were discouraged and prevented from public speaking. Once called "the morning star of the woman's rights movement.” Stone was the first recorded American woman to keep her own last name upon marriage.

Famous People Dorothea Dix is a reformer who helped mentally ill people in Massachusetts and New Jersey. Protests the lack of women’s voting rights. Fountain for thirsty horses Dix gave to the city of Boston to honor the MSPCA
