Bellwork Thurs 2/13/14 List at least three ways the French Revolution was different than the American Revolution

The Realities of the French Revolution 23.1-2 Notes

was a Paris prison that also stored gunpowder and arms. Bastille Day July 14, 1789 (Celebrated in France like we celebrate the 4th of July) Angry, scared people began to gather weapons. (What if the king attacks us?) A mob storms the Bastille and took control from the guards. Approx. 100 killed. French army refused to get involved – WHY? Marched through the streets with heads on pikes. The Bastille was a Paris prison that also stored gunpowder and arms.

Primary Sources on the Bastille Why did the mob attack the Bastille? Did they accomplish their goal? Which side does the author sympathize with? How do you know?

Based on this painting, who took part in the storming of the Bastille? Consider: Estates involved What is each estate doing in the painting? Men or women? Old or young?

Partner Assignment Using Ch 23.2 (pgs. 656-661), create a flow chart showing the time and causal relationships between the events of the Revolution. Include: Title Sentence description for each event At least 3 pictures

Bellwork Fri 2/14/14 Look at the graphic on pg. 659. Why did some people think executions by guillotine were unenjoyable? List the steps of a guillotine execution. Look at the pie chart, Which estate had the most executions? Why do you think this was?
