Domestic Policies Under Cromwell 1532 - 1540 After the fall of Wolsey (WHY?), conciliar government returned for nearly 3 years. By 1532, Thomas Cromwell had risen to be Henry’s chief minister. This rise was because of his proposal to enable Henry to secure his desired annulment and therefore solve the “Great Matter”.

How was the annulment achieved? Read AQA p 78-and the top third of p80 (is that better Ashleigh?) – stop at 1533 How many different factors can you spot? Place each one on a post-it note. New Ideas/Thinking –e.g Humanism challenged/weakened the strength of the Church. Renaissance encouraged new ideas
