BATTLE OF THE BOOKS
Presentation transcript:

Battle of the Books Let the battle begin…

What is BoB? BoB is… Reading Team work Leadership Competition Set reading list of 30 books Q & A of the books A great time!

Tell me more… Students will work in teams of 5. Choose a team captain. Each person will choose 6 books out of 30 to read. (All 30 will be read by the group) Each student is responsible for their titles. Your team is counting on you to read. Beginning in March, we will begin school battles.

Tell me more… Youngblood teams will compete against each other until we have one team as the campus winners. This team will then compete against all of the other Alief Intermediate schools in April/May. The winning school will have their names engraved on a plaque and house the trophy for the school year.

Example Questions Example 1: In what book does this quote appear, “She can be hateful at times.” ? Answer in the form of a question: What is Grounded by Kate Klise . Example 2: In what book is a character judged by her outward appearance, but is really sweet and intelligent? Answer in the form of a question: What is The Running Dream by Van Draanen pg 137

The Competition Two teams will compete against each other. The team on the left gets the odd questions. The right side gets the even questions. Team 1 has time to discuss the question before the team captain answers the question. Questions are timed

The Competition If they answer the question wrongly, then Team 2 can steal their points if they answer correctly. Team 2 is now asked their question. The round continues until all questions are asked (between 20-25 per round). The team with the most points wins the round.

The Competition If the teams are tied, there will be a Tie-Breaker question. Each team will get 1 more question. This will continue until one of the teams gets a question wrong.

Interested? Sign up in the library Choose your teammates Choose your books to read Read the selected books Be ready to compete against other teams Final Battle is in April/May against the other Intermediate schools
