Im a new UTEP employee… How will I be paid? UTEP employees are paid two Different ways. You are either a monthly SALARIED employee, or an HOURLY employee

Im a new UTEP employee… How will I be paid? Both types of employees must be assigned. This means your department (usually the secretary) must create an electronic data record within the Business Information System that defines your employment status with the University. An appointment includes your name, UT EID, title, rate of pay, percent time (i.e., full or part time), and employment begin/end dates.

Im a new UTEP employee… How will I be paid? This is done on an electronic assignment document that interfaces with the automated payroll system. Your appointment will then route through several different electronic desks for review/approval before arriving in the Budget/Payroll Office for final approval.

Im a new UTEP employee… How will I be paid? Once your assigment has been final approved, the payroll process begins: For Salaried Employees, the automated Payroll Pull sweeps the electronic appointments. This sweep reads the appointment data and recognizes (based upon dates) that the salaried employee is due a paycheck. Hourly employees submit their time records to their department. The department will then enter the record onto a Timesheet (OV1). The Timesheet is then added to the payroll, automatically generating a paycheck.

Im a new UTEP employee… How will I be paid? There are 3 payrolls within a month: The first payroll, on the first working day of the month, pays all salaried monthly employees. This is called the MONTHLY PAYROLL. The second payroll, on the 5 th working day of the month, pays all hourly employees. This is called the HOURLY PAYROLL. The third payroll, on the 15 th working day of the month, pays any employee who missed one of the other two payrolls. This payroll is called the HOURLY PAYROLL. REMEMBER, working days do not include weekends or holidays – so count carefully on your calendar!!!

Im a new UTEP employee… How will I be paid? The 3 Payrolls usually fall somewhere within the following range of dates: Monthly – The 1 st – 4 th Hourly – The 5 th – 7 th Hourly – The 20 th – 23 rd Remember…these dates can vary depending upon how weekends and holidays fall in any given calendar year.

Im a new UTEP employee… How will I receive my paycheck? As a UTEP employee you may choose the form in which you would like to receive your paycheck: Via DIRECT DEPOSIT – which automatically credits your account (checking or savings) with the amount of your paycheck. You will then receive what is called an EARNING STATEMENT that itemizes your gross to net payroll (or take- home pay). You should keep this earning statement for your personal records. Via PAY CARD – a VISA debit card that is automatically loaded with your money each payday.

Im a new UTEP employee… Where do I pickup my paycheck? Your earning statement will be delivered to your department by Campus Mail Services no later than 3:00 on payday The determination as to which department your check is delivered to is made by what is called a MAIL CODE Mail Codes are assigned at initial employment – so if you have transferred to a different department within the University you must change your mail code at the Office of Human Resource Services, Administration Bldg Room 216
