This Evening’s Purpose Provide you with an overview of the first two months of the new Georgia Assessments for the Certification of Educators (GACE) program. Provide you the opportunity to review GACE data from the first administrations and discuss program implications. 12 12

Tonight’s Agenda Segment I: Focus on the progress of the GACE program with Educational Testing Service (ETS) as the Supplier. Segment II: Focus on GACE Program Admission Assessment decisions, resulting data, and opportunities for growth. Segment III: Focus on GACE Content Assessment data analysis and program implications. 13 13

Did the test design change? The current two tests per assessment area format was maintained All tests are offered via computer only, except for the performance portion of American Sign Language Innovative item types, such as video stimuli, requiring higher levels of thinking are incorporated into the tests Most tests contain selected response items only Immediate, unofficial results are available on most assessments 21

Which tests kept constructed response items? Constructed-response items (essay) will be retained for those tests requiring them to adequately measure the constructs being assessed American Sign Language Basic Skills  Writing Early Childhood Education English French German Middle Grades Language Arts Spanish Latin 22

What does the GACE cost? Current Program: No price increase in past 7 years (except one $5 registration fee increase) Current CBT fee is $30 with ES New Program: No price increase in next 7 years; price goes down $5.00 over time New CBT is $28 with ETS 23
