unite the profession internationally; WCPT Vision: to move physical therapy forward so the profession is recognised globally for its significant role in improving health and wellbeing WCPT Mission: As the international voice of physical therapy WCPT's mission is to: unite the profession internationally; represent physical therapy and physical therapists internationally; promote high standards of physical therapy practice, education and research; facilitate communication and information exchange among member organisations, regions, subgroups and their members; collaborate with national and international organisations; and contribute to the improvement of global health. WCPT Strategic Outcomes 2017-2021: A global community of physical therapists, where everyone feels connected, that has global influence and brings about changes to health policy and practice, that promotes the unique role/value of physical therapy, that is fit for purpose and that shares knowledge Annex 7– Point 10 – European Region Strategic Plan for the Period 2018 – 2022 and Key Performance Indicators

European Region of the WCPT Vision Strategic Objectives 1. Demonstrate the value and impact of Physiotherapy 2. Physiotherapists are recognised as autonomous professionals 3. Promote excellence in Physiotherapy education, practice and research 4. Engage in relevant policy development at EU and national level European Region of the WCPT Mission Leading, promoting and representing the Physiotherapy profession in the European Region by driving excellence in education, practice and research, advocating and influencing health policy European Region of the WCPT Vision Enabling People in Europe to live active healthy lives

SO1. Demonstrate the value and impact of Physiotherapy – To achieve this we will: Advocate for the value and impact of Physiotherapy that improves population health and wellbeing, based on the principles of movement; Engage with EU developments and respond to consultations by presenting the Physiotherapy perspective; Present the evidence through collaboration with others e.g. WHO Europe, Global Alliance for Musculoskeletal, Fit for Work Foundation and European Forum for Primary Care. SO2. Physiotherapists are recognised as an autonomous professionals – To achieve this we will: Continue to strengthen and promote that the physiotherapist is an independent and autonomous professional; Provide Evidence Based support to MOs where Physiotherapists are not yet first contact practitioners and/or direct access is not recognised or implemented; Advocate for Advanced Practice in Physiotherapy. SO3. Promote excellence in Physiotherapy education, practice and research – To achieve this we will: Organise the European Scientific Congress at least every 4 years; Provide European Region specific position statements, briefing papers and standards; Collaborate with organisations at European level, such as ENPHE, G-I-N and WHO Europe. SO4. Engage in relevant policy development at EU and national level – To achieve this we will: Engage in European health workforce initiatives so Physiotherapy is represented as a key health care profession; Work with the European Forum for Primary Care to make the case for the Physiotherapy role in primary care; Develop a commitment with the EU Platform on Diet, Physical Activity and Health to demonstrate that physiotherapists are the health professionals who provide physical activity interventions. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) SO1. Demonstrate the value and impact of physiotherapy SO2.Physiotherapists are recognised as autonomous professionals SO3. Promote excellence in Physiotherapy education, practice and research SO4. Engage in relevant policy development at EU and national level 1.1 – Number of meetings with different international institutions that we have been invited to present evidence to; 1.2 – Number of platform presentations where evidence of Physiotherapy is demonstrated; 1.3 – Number of international initiatives and campaigns that we have provided evidence for e.g. written responses, media briefings. Number of MOs where:  2.1 – There is protection of title; 2.2 – Direct access to a physiotherapist is allowed in Law; 2.3 – Physiotherapists are recognised as a First contact professionals; 2.4 – Physiotherapists are recognised as advanced practitioners. 3.1 – Number of abstracts accepted for presentation; 3.2 – Number of registered participants; 3.3 – Number of MOs that report use of documents; 3.4 – Number of initiatives/actions undertaken with ENPHE, G-I-N, and others. 4.1 – Number of institutions/EU groups in which the European Region participates to influence the decision making process; 4.2 – Number of specific initiatives that identifies the role of physiotherapists in their actions; 4.3 – Number of requests to participate in EU activities/ initiatives.
