No No Which substances occur all over Europe at a significant number of sites or areas and in significant concentration. What is a significant number of sites? What is a significant concentration? October 2014 The need for and the aim of a Watch List is addressed in recital (4) of the groundwater directive: (4) The need to obtain and respond to new information on other substances posing a potential risk should be acknowledged. Therefore, a watch list for pollutants of groundwater should be established under the Common Implementation Strategy for Directive 2000/60/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council (2) to increase the availability of monitoring data on substances posing a risk or potential risk to bodies of groundwater, and thereby facilitate the identification of substances, including emerging pollutants, for which groundwater quality standards or threshold values should be set. The approach should be quite simple – tiered approach: First Step: Only existing monitoring data have to be delivered Number of additional data to be delivered has be kept small Only aggregated data need to be delivered but Data have to be delivered in an unique and simple structure Name of the Substance – Identification (CAS-Nr. ?) For each substance it should be reported how many sites are analysed Number of sites with findings above LOQ (>LOQ) up to 0.05 µg/l. Number of sites with findings > 0.05 and 0.1 µg/l Number of sites with findings > 0.1 and 1 µg/l Number of sites with findings > 1 and 3 µg/l Number of sites with findings > 3 and 10 µg/l Number of sites with findings > 10 µg/l In addition for each substance the LOQ should be given. October 2014 Additional Information: Please indicate whether data are from a „representative“ monitoring or a „problem oriented“ monitoring (worst case scenario). What data should be delivered: All data available but primarily data from regular monitoring programmes of MS or specific monitoring programmes as well as data from local authorities and water companies (raw water data – not drinking water) Make sure, that additional data are available (e.g. sites analysed, analytical methods) Quality of data: MS are responsible for the quality of data. Data should be reliable (good quality). Frequency of reporting? A regular reporting is necessary (once a year) – when? Data should be summarized at the end of the year. (if yes, data should be delivered till the end of 2014) A group of volunteers has to be established to discuss further steps. (Who is ready to join the group of volunteers?) All the members of WG GW are asked for their comments on the concept presented (07.
