Elements of Art Space

Space is the area of the paper we draw into. What is space? Space is the area of the paper we draw into. There are non-active spaces called the negative space. There are active spaces called the positive space.

Learning Outcome Students will become more visually aware of space by drawing a scene outdoors.

Active spaces get our attention. Non-active spaces let the eyes rest and create an environment for active spaces. Active spaces get our attention. Task- In your sketchbook, Draw a scene outdoors. Refer to this example. Look for active spaces and non-active spaces. Make both types of spaces obvious in your Drawing.
