Ms. DeLeon’s Sample Story Hiking!

Part 1: Climbing the mountain (Red)

Ms. DeLeon loves to go hiking and camping with her friends from college. During spring break of her sophomore year of college, she and her friends hiked the Applachian Trail for 6 days in northern NJ. They begin the hike and the first part of their hike is very steep! They are climbing up the side of a mountain!

Part 2: Meandering the Slight Hill (Orange)

After climbing the mountainside, our group took a lighter path on the trail. We decided to trek the ‘orange trail’ which ran parallel to the Appalachian Trail and was a much lower incline(less steep slope) than the Appalachian Trail.

Part 3: Back on the Appalachian Trail (Green)

Back on the Appalachian Trail, we continued to hike up the steep mountain path we were hiking previously. It took us two days to hike this steep part of the mountain!

Part 4: Climbing down the Mountain (Blue)

We had reached the summit of the mountain We had reached the summit of the mountain! Now we were heading back down the mountain and had only two days to do it in! We had to hurry down quick because we were also running out of clean water! :/

My Hiking Story!!!

Traveling back home after the Hike After finishing our hike, we had a friend in a van come pick us up at the Delaware Water Gap (end of our hike). As a group we had to pay for gas to commute back home and we all decided to tip our ‘driver’ as well. The total cost for the drive was $200. If there was 8 people in our group and we decided to give him a $40 tip, how much did each person have to put in originally, not including tip?
