Welcome to Class 3 Mrs Walker

From Key Stage one to Key Stage two……What changes? Curriculum: In KS2 we continue to study….maths, english, history, geography, computing, art and design, music, design technology and PE. A language is added and at Cawood we teach French. As the curriculum widens and deepens the strain on timetable means every second counts!

Routines: Children need to become more independent as they progress through the school. Please encourage them to come into class on their own. They need to be responsible for their own routines. Hang up coat/bag Put water bottle on table Put reading book and home record book in tray

Home record book Acts as both a diary and a reading record book. Please add comments when you listen to your child read. Encourage them to record the book they are reading. Encourage them to add comments. Spelling tests are recorded here so you can see how they do each week. Please sign each week.

Homework Reading, reading, reading! Don’t forget it is important to keep reading to your child that way they access rich vocabulary. Spellings Will be brought home each Monday with a sheet to fill out each day. Test on a Friday. SMIRF’s Key facts such as multiplication tables are really important. Little and often is best. (Sumdog, IXL) Learning Log NOT every week! Occasionally to encourage independent research or to widen learning. The timetable is very busy in school. They need time to relax and play!
