Mokapu Elementary School Academic Plan 2017-2020

Major Areas of Student Needs Increase achievement in ELA, Math, and Science proficiency As suggested by the WASC Initial Visit: Differentiation Vertical articulation Expanding technology Professional development for teachers Transitions for incoming and exiting students Students being safe, supported, and healthy at our school Major Areas of Student Needs

Goal 1 Objective 1: Empowered All students are empowered in their learning to set and achieve their aspirations for the future. Students set goals and keep track of their learning: -PD on goal setting, address & assess GLOs Students engage in relevant and rigorous learning: -PD on integrating NGSS & C3 units Goal 1 Objective 1: Empowered

Goal 1 Objective 2: Whole Child All students are safe, healthy, and supported in school so that they can engage fully in high-quality educational opportunities. Decrease Chronic Absenteeism: -Communicate & monitor absenteeism policy to parents, Be Pono Program Increase Positive School Climate: -IMUA Values Health & Wellness: -PE program -State Wellness Guidelines

Goal 1 Objective 3: Well-Rounded All students are offered and engage in a rigorous, well-rounded education so that students are prepared to be successful in their post-high school goals.   Increase SBA ELA by 5%, SBA Math by 5%, HSA Science 3% results annually: -Data Teams -differentiation -vertical articulation Classroom level learning is personalized: -interventions

Goal 1 Objective 4: Prepared and Resilient All students transition successfully throughout their educational experiences. Anchored 4Life:  Transition and Resiliency Program: Reinforce skills to better connect with their peers and community to cope in healthy ways through transitions Provide growing opportunities to increase competency and character by positively addressing setbacks Build confident leaders who inspire others by contributing to a caring and supportive environment

Focused Professional Development.  Develop and grow employees to support student success and continuous improvement. WASC accreditation: -Self-Study to be completed Spring 2018 -Focus on Learning Groups in Organization, Curriculum, Instruction, Assessment and Accountability, and School Culture Technology PD: -Google trainings with state and in-school support Teacher reflection of Tripod Survey & SQS: -Ensure that all students are safe, healthy and supported in school Goal 2:  Staff Success

Goal 3: Successful Systems of Support The system and culture of public education work to effectively organize financial, human, and community resources in support of student success. Mokapu Elementary partners with families and the community to increase positive relationships: Increase parent/community presence at PTA and SCC meetings
