Federal Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act (FIFRA) Drew Parker, Period 4, 2017

International Amendment- Made in 1972, changed in 1988 Under the FIFRA, all pesticides sold or distributed by or in the U.S must be licensed by the EPA. These companies must prove the pesticides do not cause significant harm to the environment or humans. The EPA prevents the sale of unregistered pesticides.

Environmental Effects The FIFRA prevents pesticides from harming in many ways, regulated by the EPA. Makes sure all pesticide use is regulated and at standards Stops sale or seizes pesticides which violate the restrictions or are altered/misbranded Prevents risks to humans or environment Assesses social, economic and environmental costs Limits human consumption risk from pesticides on or in food
