Atoms and Elements

Atoms are made of Subatomic Particles

Molecules are multiple atoms that are connected Atom is just one

Atoms are not all the same!

How many Valence Electrons do theses atoms have? Boron Atom

How many Valence Electrons do theses atoms have?

Ions

When an Atom gains or loses an electron it becomes an ION! This Sodium ION is Positively charged because it lost 2 electrons.

This Chlorine ION is Negatively charged because it gained an electron.

Sharing electrons is called a covalent bond!

Sharing electrons is called a covalent bond!
