How to Use the Basic Search in the Destiny Computer Catalog Richlands Primary School Created by Pat Lanier

This is the BASIC search page. The first type of search is the keyword. You will use this search if you only remember part of the title or only remember a little of what it is about. You could use it if you only remember that the book is about caterpillars.

Type in “caterpillars” (you must know how to spell accurately). Then click on the keyword button.

Now you can see that we have a lot of books about caterpillars Now you can see that we have a lot of books about caterpillars. Click on one.

Now you can choose the book you want and write down the title and call number.

Now we will do a Title search Now we will do a Title search. Here is where you type in the title you want.

I want Mister Seahorse. I type it and click on the Title button.

Now you can see that we have the book and you can click on it to get more information.

Now you can see the call number in the blue circle and the title in the orange circle. You would write these down to find it on the shelf.

Now let us do an author search Now let us do an author search. If you know a good author you would type it in. I chose Carle (Eric Carle). Then click on the Author button.

Here is Eric Carle. You would click on it to see what we have.

Here are his books. He has 2 pages of them Here are his books. He has 2 pages of them. You would scroll down to see each page.

Now we will do a subject search for dogs Now we will do a subject search for dogs. Type in dogs and click on Subject.

Now click on dogs. It says we have 122 of them.

Now scroll with the slide on the side or use the up and down keys to look at the dog books.

Type in a series name and click on Series for our last kind of search.

We have at least 45 in the series. Click on the bold type.

Once again, choose your book and click for more details.

I hope you enjoyed learning about a computer catalog I hope you enjoyed learning about a computer catalog. It will take you a long time to learn it all, but be patient and YOU WILL LEARN.
