For a number of years, the Oakland County Chapter has supported Forgotten Harvest through proceeds from our Annual Chapter Golf Outing. This is a new opportunity to give back to an organizations in our community. Forgotten Harvest “rescued” over 45 million pounds of food las year by collecting a surplus prepared and perishable food from 800 sources, including grocery stores, fruit and vegetable markets, restaurants, caterers, farmers, wholesale food distributors and other Heath Department-approved sources. This donated food, which would otherwise go to waste, is delivered free of charge to 250 emergency food provided in the Metro Detroit area.
