physical vs.mechanical by: Lola West & Eden York weathering physical vs.mechanical by: Lola West & Eden York

Ice wedging Mechanical/Physical Ice freeze's, thaw's and expands the rock

Tree roots Mechanical/Physical The roots grow and capture the rock and then break it in half

Wind Abrasion Mechanical/Physical When wind blows an object from one place to another

Gravity Abrasion Mechanical/Physical The rocks roll down the hill breaking down, forming sediments

Water Abrasion Mechanical/Physical When water rushes over the rocks making them smoother

Animal burrowing Mechanical/Physical When an animal builds a habitat and breaks down the soil when doing it

Acid precipitation Chemical When chemicals, and acid mix with rain and create acid rain

Acid in living things Chemical Living organisms get on the tree and spread acid

Rusting/oxyidation Chemical Air mixed with oxygen causes rust

Bonus/Weathering Mechanical/physical The breaking down of rock into sediments
