New publication series New publication series in the Eurostat publication programme Objective: to explain the statistics to general users 2007: “European Price Statistics” cross-cutting publication on prices 2008: PEEIs publication Eurostat – Unit D1 Key indicators for the European policies

Target group and aim Target group: non-specialized users Aim: help the readers to understand the main methodological PEEIs concepts explain how each PEEI is linked to economic phenomena and polices illustrate the relationships and differences between PEEIs Eurostat – Unit D1 Key indicators for the European policies

Structure Introductory chapter Eight chapters grouping 22 selected PEEIs: National Accounts External Transactions Prices Labour Market Business Indicators Government Accounts Financial Market Economic Sentiment Indicator Eurostat – Unit D1 Key indicators for the European policies

General content (1) Introductory chapter General overview of the role of the PEEIs with respect to the business cycle in general and monetary policy in particular Historical background Improvements of PEEIs Flash estimates and increasing of timeliness Increasing of coverage the harmonization of PEEIs production process in key areas such as seasonal adjustments, revisions, estimations, etc. Importance of PEEIs for economic analysis and policy making Eurostat – Unit D1 Key indicators for the European policies
