Nevado del Ruiz The destruction in the 1845 eruption was devastating to the surrounding population. There were around 1000 people killed in the aftermath of the eruption.

Nevado del Ruiz The last eruption was in November 1985 when there were 1927 people killed in and around the village of Armero . This is a picture of the mud slide which killed ¾ of the population of Armero.
