Digital Citizenship Presentation Kaley Bass 2/1/16 Grade : 8

Why am I giving this presentation ? I am giving this presentation because I think it’s important for teens to know how to behave appropriately online and how to handle difficult online situations. We can make the internet much more safe.

Why is internet safety & digital citizenship important for everyone ? Internet safety is important for everyone because someone is always watching what you do online. Even if you delete it, someone has still seen it. That is why it’s important to think before you post. Someone could also steal your identity if you post personal information online.

Cyberbullying Cyberbullying- the use of electronic communication to bully a person, typically by sending messages of an intimidating or threatening nature.

Examples of Cyberbullying Sending text messages calling people names Impersonation/fake profiles Rumors sent by email Embarrassing photos Mean things posted on social media https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jz-HwnyvUwY

How could you respond to cyberbullying? If you are constantly being cyberbullied, don’t try to take the situation into your own hands. You should immediately tell a trusted adult. People bully to make themselves feel better about something they are going through in their own lives.

Be responsible digital citizens Be responsible. If you are being bullied don’t bully back because then you aren’t acting any better than the person bullying you. Think before you post. Don’t post anything with profanity , nudity or mean comments about others. Make sure that nothing you post contains personal information about you or where you or anyone else lives. If everyone does these things the internet will be a safer place!
