The Future of Community-Based Services and Education Tania Karney AET/508 August 17, 2015 Susan Kater The Future of Community-Based Services and Education

Anticipated Changes The increase in non-traditional students Increasing costs of community based services Diversity in education Funding opportunities Legal influence, education, community, and diversity Increased cost of healthcare and education services

Funding Options State and Federal governments are the primary source for funding Over the next 15 years, the government will need to consider revisiting the provisions made to these programs on a regular basis to ensure that funding is available to the states as set forth by the law under the Affordable Care Act. Additional contributions will come from private lenders who see the importance of continued education.

Funding sources

The Future of Services Knowledge Translation will become an important part of community based services as organizations and service providers become involved in delivering health and health-related services to people within the community. Knowledge Translation will become the connection between healthcare researchers, decision makers, service providers, and the people they serve so that the real needs of the community are met. (Kothari & Armstrong, 2011)

The Future of adult education The population of adult learners will continue to grow. Social media will become a stronger influence as a teaching and learning tool. Educators will rely on social media to interact with their students. Adult learners will become more self-directed learners relying less on knowledge received from instructors. (Bailey, Ed.D., 2012)

Diversity Economic demands for higher education will lead to a greater demand for academic credential and training. US Census data predicts by 2050, there will be no ethic group that is a majority
