ECOUTE is your personal listener: your gateway to technology ECOUTE Concept ECOUTE is your personal listener: your gateway to technology ECOUTE Listens to you ECOUTE is ‘adapted’ to your voice ECOUTE knows about the way you speak and the words you use ECOUTE drives applications which are tailored for you ECOUT(EUR) Listens for you ECOUTE warns you of events needing attention ECOUTE monitors your voice ECOUTE learns to do better, and to do more for you FP7 15/1/07

Technology Challenges ECOUTE Work Programme Client-driven: client groups in 3 countries recruited at the outset, basis for development and evaluation Semi-automatic enrolment for each new client Use in the home and outside ECOUTE Products Two exemplar applications (e.g. environmental control, internet access) ECOUTE technology abstracted to an API Technology Challenges Predicting what is feasible for each individual Sparse training data Designing interactions which gain and hold confidence Learning about the client’s voice and vocabulary ECOUTE Consortium (Provisional) University of Sheffield (Institute for Ageing, CAST group) University of Nijmegan University of Leuven University of Edinburgh Philips Toby Churchill FP7 15/1/07
