Selection Process: Committee chair sent an email to Virtual Reference group asking for transcript submissions. NOTE: Criteria: Must focus on reference/research transactions only. Librarian needed to be from our MI group but didn’t have to be from nominating school Max 5 transcripts per institution.
Process, cont’d Committee chair anonymized transcripts. Double-blind peer review process: each transcript reviewed by 2 judges via uniform rubric. Chair averages scores for each transcript to determine overall winner
This year… 24 individual transcripts submitted from 7 schools: Only 0.5 point separates 1st place recipient and runner up. Three honorable mentions- 1 point away from 1st. Special thanks to our award sponsors:

Jim conducted a thorough reference interview, making sure he understood the patron's topic and what searching the patron had done already. He introduced the student to the concept of looking for the sources referenced in a relevant article, provided a good referral to a subject specialist, and confirmed that the patron was doing well before signing off.
