Planning and Cost: Plan ahead of time. Where are we going? How much ? Cost of bus? Lunch? Bring it, eat on the way, or eat there. Dress? Be sure to check the weather.

Permission: Permission from the principal. Permission from parents.

Volunteers: Plan for one chaperone at least for every 4-5 students. Have information for students prior to the field trip. Ex: If exhibit is on the Civil War, present or provide lessons/information on the Civil War before going on the trip.

Assessment: Use of a KWL chart. This will allow students to document what they already know and what they want to know prior to the field trip. After the field trip, students will be able to document what they have learned.
