What is inside leaves that makes them different colors?

Pigments Matter in cells that interact with light to absorb only certain wavelengths. Plants produce several kinds of pigments, each of a different color, to capture more of the sun's energy.

What does chloroplast mean? Chloro means green. Plast means small body. Chloroplast: a small green body in a plant cell. Each chloroplast contains chlorophyll and is the site where photosynthesis occurs.

What is chlorophyll? Chlorophyll is the green pigment in plants.

Why was the color of the leaf pale under the cardboard? The green color produced by chlorophyll hides the other colors. In the fall when the amount of sunlight lessens and temperature drops, chlorophyll is not produced.
