Active vs Passive Voice

The student wrote a song. The song was written by the student. What’s the difference between these two sentences?

Active: The student wrote a song Active: The student wrote a song. -The subject of the sentence (student) performs the action (wrote). Passive: The song was written by the student. -The subject of the sentence (song) receives the action (written). Reminder: A subject is the person, place, thing, or idea that is doing or being something. It’s what the sentence is about!

Examples The long flight must have exhausted Emily. Alexa changed the flat tire. The national anthem is being sung by Fergie.
