Outcomes of arteriovenous fistulas and grafts with or without intervention before successful use James C. Harms, MD, Sunil Rangarajan, MD, Carlton J. Young, MD, Jill Barker-Finkel, PhD, Michael Allon, MD Journal of Vascular Surgery Volume 64, Issue 1, Pages 155-162 (July 2016) DOI: 10.1016/j.jvs.2016.02.033 Copyright © 2016 Society for Vascular Surgery Terms and Conditions
Fig 1 Cumulative access patency of arteriovenous fistulas (AVFs) that matured with or without prior interventions and arteriovenous grafts (AVGs) that did or did not require intervention before successful cannulation. Access patency was shorter for AVFs with prior intervention than for AVFs without interventions (P < .0001). Access patency was shorter for AVGs with prior interventions than AVGs without intervention (P < .0001). Access patency was similar for AVFs and AVGs without prior interventions (P = .16). Cumulative access patency was worse for AVFs with prior interventions than for AVG without prior interventions (P = .01). Fig 3 Annual frequency of arteriovenous fistula (AVF) and arteriovenous graft (AVG) interventions after successful access use. Values are shown with the 95% confidence interval (CI). P < .0001 for AVF with prior intervention vs AVF without intervention. P < .0001 for AVG with prior intervention vs AVG without intervention. P < .0001 for AVF without intervention vs AVG without intervention. P < .0001 for AVF with intervention vs AVG without intervention.
