Federal Pay System General Schedule (GS) 15 grades World wide base salary, locality differentials Federal Wage System (FWS) 3 categories – WG (nonsupervisory), WL (leader), WS (supervisory) Locality rates are developed by OSD, Wage and Salary Division 12/7/2018

Technician Pay Adjustments Annual Nationwide Adjustments Promotions Within-Grade (Step) Increases -Based on Job Performance -GS Permanent position only -FWS position, including FWS temporaries -Complete required waiting period 12/7/2018

With-in Range Increase General Schedule (GS) Waiting periods: Step 2-3-4 52 calendar weeks Step 5-6-7 104 calendar weeks Step 8-9-10 152 calendar weeks Federal Wage System (FWS) Step 2 26 calendar weeks Step 3 78 calendar weeks Step 4 -5 104 calendar weeks 12/7/2018

Within-Range Increases GS Employees who occupy permanent positions and WG Employees in temporary or permeant positions earn WRIs upon meeting the following three requirements established by law: Performance must be at an acceptable level of competence. Most recent performance rating of record must be at least Level 3 ("Fully Successful”) Must have completed the required waiting period for advancement to the next higher step. Must not have received an "equivalent increase" in pay during the waiting period. (See 5 CFR 531.407.) 12/7/2018

GS Night Pay Differential Regularly scheduled work between hours of 1800-0600 Basic pay + 10% of basic pay Paid only for regularly scheduled hours actually worked at night Not used to calculate Sunday or Holiday pay 12/7/2018

FWS Night Shift Differential Regularly scheduled non-overtime hours from 1500 – 0800 Paid 7.5% of basic rate of pay if majority of hours fall between 1500 and 2400 Paid 10% of basic rate of pay if majority of work occurs between 2300 and 0800 is used to calculate Sunday pay and Holiday pay 12/7/2018

Holiday Pay/Premium Pay GS & WG receive double-time pay not to exceed normal work shift Guaranteed 2 hours pay GS Night shift receive double-time +10% FWS Night shift receive double-time +normal night shift pay Must be approved prior to the Holiday 12/7/2018

Environmental Differential and Hazardous Duty Pay Environmental Differential Pay (EDP): Only applies to WG employee exposed to various degrees of hazard, physical hardship or other unusual working conditions. Hazardous Pay (HDP): Only applies to GS any federal employee exposed to irregular or intermittent hazardous duties involving physical hardship. *Both determined by position 12/7/2018
