Eastern Woodland Indians The Native Americans that lived in Virginia for thousands of years. *Eastern- because they live on the EAST coast of the North America *Woodland- there is a lot of trees in Virginia due to the four mild seasons *Indians- Christopher Columbus called the people he found in the lands he explored “Indians” because he thought he was in the Indies (near China) How did they get their name????
