NILE RIVER AND HOW PEOPLE USE IT BY: MARIAM AHMED 5Y

SOURCES The source of the Nile considered to be lake Victoria , but the lake has Feeder rivers of considerable size. The Kagera River ,which flows into lake Victoria is the longest feeder.

BLUE NILE and the WHITE NILE Most people know the blue Nile and the White Nile. The White Nile starts from the equatorial East Africa. But the Blue Nile starts from Ethiopia. Both branches are on the western flanks of the East African Rift.

The search for the source of the Nile John Henning Speke, Speke was the Victorian explorer who first reached Lake Victoria in 1858, returning to establish it as the source of the Nile by 1862.

The search for the source of the Nile Also Henry Morton Stanley in 1872. Stanley circumnavigated the Lake and confirmed Speke’s observations in 1875

Water Sharing Dispute In Africa there are water conflicts between Entebbe , Uganda, Ethiopia , Rwanda , Tanzania ,Sudan and Egypt , that each country uses water more than the others and some countries are polluting the Nile’s water and people think that these conflicts won’t stop in the future. Also now Ethiopia is building a dam that is also an other conflict that the other countries are also fitting about.

River Nile’s maps From long ago lots of scientists drew maps of the Nile and until now. Now technology is getting more better and there is also satellites that take pictures of Earth and also from rivers and even some scientists use these pictures to know what the weather is going to be like.

MUDBRICKS IN Ancient countries like in ancient Egypt and in Sudan like the kingdom of the Kush or Kush empire used to build with mud bricks. Like in ancient Egypt there was build by the mud bricks a tomb called Mastaba. Also in Sudan houses are build with mud bricks and lots of other buildings. Also most of the countries that are beside the Nile use mud bricks.

TOURISM Lots of cruise ships move on the Nile for vacations or just a ride around the Nile so people and tourists could see a beautiful view of the Nile and valleys and farms around.

pollution People always pollute water and never understands the importance of water however lots of countries arrest people who pollute water and let them pay thousands of money. Also government units to solve this problem. Lots of scientists believe that till the end of this world people will still pollute water, even to the last second !!!!!!!

Dams that benefit from the Nile Currently two dams are build on the Nile they are Jebel Aulia dam and the High dam. Jebel Aulia dam is in Sudan and the High dam is in Aswan- Egypt. Both dams have hydroelectric dams. In the High dam the storage area of the dam is lake Nasser.

Floods Basically floods happen more in Egypt , exactly beside the High dam, old Nubian city had drowned because of a flood ,because that time lake Nasser was really full that the rest of the water came to land. Lots of people really died. Most of the farmers become really happy when it is the flood season, because if it is going to flood water would just get all over there farms and make the soil very fertile. But people really hate floods because floods would just take over there houses. DID YOU KNOW that the statue of Ramses the Great at the Great Temple of Abu Simbel is reassembled after having been moved in 1967 to save from being flooded.

THANKS FOR JOINING WITH ME IN THIS POWER POINT OF THE RIVER NILE !!!!!!!
