Lesson 9.2.3 Day 1 – Teacher Notes Standard: 6.RP.A.3c Use ratio and rate reasoning to solve real-world and mathematical problems, e.g., by reasoning about tables of equivalent ratios, tape diagrams, double number line diagrams, or equations. Find a percent of a quantity as a rate per 100 (e.g., 30% of a quantity means 30/100 times the quantity); solve problems involving finding the whole, given a part and the percent. Full mastery can be expected by the end of the chapter. Lesson Focus: The focus of the lesson is to calculate percent of a number and practice proving using a diagram. (9-49 and 9-50) I can explain that a percent is a ratio of a number to 100. Calculator: Yes Literacy/Teaching Strategy: Traveling Salesman (Closure); Listening Post (to enhance participation of team members)
