Mariska Magdolina Hargitay (Santa Monica, California, January 23, 1964) is a Hungarian-American actress, producer and director of film and television, winner of an Emmy Award and a Golden Globe for her performance as Detective Olivia Benson in the Police TV series Law & Order: Special Victims Unit of NBC.? Mariska Hargitay is the daughter of actress Jayne Mansfield and actor and Mr. Universe Mickey Hargitay. In June of 1967, she and her two brothers (Zoltan and Mickey Jr.) witnessed the terrible accident in which her mother died: they were all in the same vehicle, which collided with a truck. The three adults who were in the front seats died while the three children, seated behind, survived. He studied acting at UCLA and made his film debut with the movie Ghoulies in 1985. He subsequently starred in Leaving Las Vegas (1995) and Crocodile (1999) .In television he has starred in series such as: Cracker (1997), Prince Street (1991) and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit (1999), in the latter, he plays the detective Olivia Benson. For that role she has been nominated eight times for the Emmy Award for Best Actress in a Drama Series and won in 2006. Similarly, for the same role, she was twice nominated for the Golden Globe as Best Leading Actress in a Drama Series and won in 2005. She also received two Gracie Allen Awards and a Prism Award.1 Her role in the series made her personally involved: since 2005 the actress presides over the Joyful Heart Foundation, dedicated to helping victims of abuse. Previously, he acted in 13 episodes in the ER series.He speaks English, Russian, Spanish, French, Italian and Hungarian.?
