Now that the word system is starting to make sense, what do you think a subsystem is? SYSTEMS

Now in your lab groups, brainstorm other components of a broader educational system and write them on your handout PUT IT TO THE TEST! My School as a Subsystem Worksheet

SYSTEMS PUT IT TO THE TEST! PreschoolElementaryMiddle SchoolHigh SchoolCollegeSuperintendentSchool Board

SYSTEMS How are these subsystems related? - Each subsystem functions to support education in some way How does one subsystem affect the others? Example: Without preschools and elementary schools to start the learning process, the schools with other students would be as effective

SYSTEMS How is our educational system a subsystem of an even larger system? Example: When students leave the educational system, they enter and contribute to other parts of society. For example, they enter the workforce, and the knowledge and skills they gained in the educational system are used there. Example: Also, the educational system is part of a broad government-supported social system – educational system, health care system, welfare system, etc.

SYSTEMS In partners, use the provided worksheet to compare the School System to the Digestive System PUT INTO PRACTICE! Digestive vs. Education Worksheet
