What is culture?? Culture: way of life of a group of people who share similar beliefs and customs. Culture is usually made up of language, religion, daily life, history, art, government, and economy
Culture: Language Through language people can communicate information and experiences Information can be passed from one generation to the next
Discuss with a neighbor What religious holidays are often celebrated in the U.S.?
Culture: Religion Religion can unite or be a source of struggle in a culture Religion can influence many aspects of daily life Example: Holidays, festivals, morals…etc.
Culture: Social Groups Ethnic groups- group of people who share a common place of origin Most cultures are made up of “social classes” Social Classes- groups of people ranked usually by wealth, birth, or education.
Culture: Government and Economy Governments are set in place to protect citizens for dangers and to provide services. The economy found within a culture deals with how a culture uses its natural resources to meet people’s needs.
Culture Regions Culture Region- countries that have certain traits in common. They usually share: types of governments, economies, and social groups.
