The Strategic Framework A Global blue print for Malaria Social and Behavior Change Communication Much needed roadmap for positioning malaria SBCC The best tool to adapt for Malaria communication at the Country Level The Goal of the current Strategic framework 2012- 2017 is “ Communities are empowered to remove the threat of malaria from human health ’’

Objectives NMCP in 80% of High Burden countries have developed and implemented evidence-based, national communication strategies 80% of high burden countries are routinely allocating resources in their malaria control budgets to communication interventions RBM communication partners regularly generate and disseminate evidence of communication impact, including for priorities outlined in an agreed global communication research agenda With in one year, the RBM Partnership has established a community of practice and database that maps partners in the majority of high- burden countries in order to facilitate partner organization

Principles of Effective Malaria Communication The strategic framework provides four principles for effective Malaria communication Effective malaria communication is a systematic and evidence- based process Effective malaria communication is theory based Effective malaria communication is system- based Effective malaria communication utilizes appropriate approaches

Key Actions from The Strategic Framework The Strategic framework urged malaria partners to implement 5 Key actions : Advocate for systems and programs that ensure malaria communication is positioned appropriately within the global RBM Partnership Ensure all NMCP communication strategies are context appropriate, evidence based, and result driven Foster capacity building in communication planning, management, and evaluation at the global, national and sub national levels Invest adequate resources to ensure communication interventions achieve measurable results at the country level Expand the evidence base demonstrating communication intervention impact on social and behavior change

The Strategic Framework update & revision The current version of the Strategic Framework will be ended by 2017. Update should ensure inclusion of the current malaria progress and also - Consider Global guidance from : Action and Investment to defeat Malaria (AIM) 2016-2030 Global Technical Strategy ( GTA) 2016-2030 Sustainable Development Goals ( SDGs) Consultant Carol Baum is working on update and revision of the Strategic Framework Thinking about The Strategic framework for malaria communication at country level 2018 -2023 ?? Finally, the current Strategic Framework contains helpful malaria communication tools, toolkits and and resources.
