PROCEDURES? The way that we do things. Examples: Opening a locker. Making a phone call. To be successful in learning, we need to follow simple procedures.

JOURNAL HEADING JOURNAL #1: January 4, 2015 You may separate journals with a line, as long as you head the following journal appropriately: JOURNAL #2: January 6, 2015

ATTENTION PLEASE! or I may also use chimes Stop whatever you are doing at that moment. Face the teacher and wait silently. Notify any classmates who haven’t noticed that the teacher has raised her hand. No talking or whispering. All of your attention should be given to the teacher.

DURING INSTRUCTION Listen with full attention. No pencil sharpening, talking, or whispering. Ask permission to speak by raising your hand. Ask questions related to the subject.

FINISH EARLY? Turn in your work Get permission to help others Make-up work Ongoing projects

BATHROOM BREAKS, NURSE VISITS, ETC. Glendora High School provides ample time for its students to maintain their hygiene and health needs. There is a nutrition period and lunch period between each class AND an additional 10 minute passing period as well. However, in light of the possibility of a true emergency . . .

BATHROOM BREAKS, NURSE VISITS, ETC. 2 passes are available for usage. Once used, they are non- replaceable. They are also non-transferrable. If you need to leave, raise hand with fingers crossed and I will indicate yes or no. Bring me the pass and I will sign it.

BATHROOM BREAKS, NURSE VISITS, ETC. Only 1 person may leave class at a time. Also, please do not ask to leave class during the first or last 10 minutes of class.

PENCILS / PENS Raise pencil or pen and point to the pencil bin at the back of the room. I will either nod yes or no. Borrowed pencils must be returned. Exchanged pencils require you to put the used pencil in the used cup

WHEN YOU ARE TARDY Put your tardy slip in the basket. Quietly go to your seat and catch up with the classwork. You will not be excused from any work you missed.

WHEN YOU ARE ABSENT Get the assignments from Mrs. Muñoz during Tartan Tutorial. Do the work at home. Get the assignments from Quia. Do the work at home. There is a link to Quia directly from Aeries that will allow you to download your missing assignments as well.

MISSING ASSIGNMENTS Approximately every two weeks I will send out an email-wide report to you and your parents indicating which assignments, if any, are missing. Please do your best to turn your work in on time.

DISMISSAL Each student is expected to clean up the classroom, their work area and others and put away any materials Students complete and turn in a Ticket Out the Door, if assigned A student reads the launch IMPORTANT: Mrs. Muñoz will dismiss the class ONLY after the room is clean, organized, and ALL students are sitting in their assigned seats

CLASSROOM RULES Bring all necessary materials to class. No gum, food, or drink allowed. Remain seated, unless authorized to move about the classroom Profanity Free Zone Be respectful of others and their belongings

PROFESSIONALISM POINTS The upside: Many of my students have behaved responsibly and deserve some recognition. Therefore, I have decided to include professionalism points as a grading factor equal to 20% of your grade. Completing homework on time can add to your professionalism points. Not completing it on time can reduce your points. Raising your hand to answer a question can add to your professionalism points.

PROFESSIONALISM POINTS The downside: Shouting out an answer without raising your hand can cost you a point. Coming in tardy can cost you a point. Profanity can cost you a point and result in firmer consequences.

Progressive Consequences For the first couple of weeks will we model appropriate procedures, thereafter, it will be up to you as responsible individuals to adhere to our classroom rules and standards.

Progressive Consequences First infraction: verbal warning Second infraction: stay after class Third infraction: tutorial detention with written essay to be signed by a parent Fourth infraction: parent/teacher teleconference Fifth infraction: Dean referral

HAVE A WONDERFUL, ENJOYABLE SEMESTER! Mrs. Muñoz
