Lesotho
Lesotho is a small country landlocked by South Africa. It is a land of mountains and valleys.
Some people live in the city of Maseru
In the villages in the mountains, some people live in houses like these called rondavels. This is the Mokhotlong area. They are made of stone with thatched roofs. People also live in houses made of stone and tin.
There is always a lot of work to do in the villages. Washing clothes
Harvesting maize
Ploughing Milking cows
Carrying sheep
Many children live in the villages
They play games
They work hard in school
They enjoy eating sweets. These children are wearing the traditional Lesotho blanket. Each clan has their own design.

There are lots of rivers in Lesotho There are lots of rivers in Lesotho. This is a bridge over the Senqu river.
In 1986 the Lesotho government and the government of South Africa came to an agreement. They agreed that dams would be built in Lesotho to provide water for people in South Africa. Two dams have already been built. They are the Katse Dam and the Mohale Dam.

In 2019, work will begin on the Polihali dam in the Mokhotlong area
These people are meeting to discuss the new dam that is going to be built in the Mokhotlong area
It will be called the Polihali Dam It will be called the Polihali Dam. The Polihali Dam will flood this valley.
This part of the valley will also be covered in water
Houses and fields will be underwater People will have to leave their villages and move to new homes
