(Find molar mass) 2) Divide by the total mass of the compound 3) Multiply by 100 to get percent Total mass of element X 100 Total mass of compound

Example 1 What percent of copper is in the compound Cu2S? Cu=2 x 63.55= 127.1 S= 1 x 32.07= 32.07 159.17 g 127.1 g x 100= 79.85 % Cu
