When Sodom lived in Lot’s family …there was a reluctance to flee evil (19:15-16) Lot, though righteous, had grown accustomed to his evil surroundings 2 Pet 2:7 Christians must flee evil or become God’s enemy: 1 Cor 6:18; 10:14; 1 Tim 6:10-11; 2 Tim 2:22; Rom 8:1; Jas 4:4; 1 John 2:15; Gal 6:7; Matt 25:46

When Sodom lived in Lot’s family …fear was stronger than faith (19:17-22) Lot was afraid to do what the Lord commanded Do not be afraid, be strong in faith to do the Lord’s will 1 Cor 16:13; Eph 6:10; 2 Tim 2:1; Matt 10:28

When Sodom lived in Lot’s family …the yearning for earthly possessions was stronger than the will to obey God (19:26) Lot’s wife longed for earthly possessions over heavenly rewards Col 3:2; Luke 17:31-33 The wages of sin is death Rom 6:23

When Sodom lived in Lot’s family … immorality was welcomed & even justified (19:30-38) Lot’s daughters carried on the influence of Sodom “Evil company corrupts good habits” 1 Cor 15:33; cf. Prov 6:27-28; 2 Cor 6:14-7:1

Flee the destruction to come… 2 Thess 1 – 2 Pet 3 – Matt 25 We must : …take the warning seriously …not be reluctant to flee to Christ …allow faith to overcome fear & love for world …yearn for the promise over our possessions …not justify our sins, but confess them

Keep Sodom away from your family Jesus prayed for it, so must we John 17:15; Matt 6:13
