SPI Luzenac Inc. Timmins, Ontario, Canada November 15, 2010 Excavator Capsized

What Happened.. The mining contractor incurred a property damage incident. The excavator operator was loading ore trucks in the pit with waste material which contained oversized rocks at the 58-23 shot location (south east end of the pit). Upon releasing one of the pieces of oversize into the ore truck, the excavator became unbalanced causing the track to the operator's left to rise up and the track to the operator's right to skid to the side of the pad he was working from. The excavator then slid down off the pad, capsized and came to rest on the top side of the engine compartment and boom. The operator was wearing his seat belt and was not injured.
