The Five Themes of Geography

Geographers use the 5 themes of geography to understand the world: location place region movement human - environment interaction

Location Tells where a place is and how it got there. “Absolute location” Is the exact spot where a spot can be found using latitude lines and longitude lines.”

Place Tells about a city or country, what they speak, eat, landforms and climate, and culture. also, how it use to be.

Region Places are group into Regions; regions are groups of places that have, or share, the same physical features or human characteristics.

Natural regions There are 10 natural regions; a Natural Region has its own unique animal and plant life and its own Climate.

Movement Is the moving of people, animals, plants and ideas form one place, or region to another. People “Migrated”, moving from one place to settle in another. Why? Push and pull Factor Problems like war or famine pushes people out, while advantages, like a promise of a better life elsewhere, pulls people to another. http://www.bradshawfoundation.com/journey/

Human-Environment Interaction Interaction begins when we depend on, adapt to and modify the world around us. Humans and their environment can not be separated, each can help or hurt the other.
