Do Now: What can you remember about perpendicular and parallel lines??

News: Big Quiz Friday SPRING BREAK NEXT WEEK!! If you will not be here Friday, you need to sign up for Flex Thursday!!! RIGHT NOW! SPRING BREAK NEXT WEEK!! Still need you to stay focused….we need to keep our grades up!!

Equations of lines to Remember… Slope-Intercept Form Useful for graphing since m is the slope and b is the y-intercept Point-Slope Form Use this form when you know a point on the line and the slope Also can use this version if you have two points on the line because you can first find the slope using the slope formula and then use one of the points and the slope in this equation. Slope Equation Commonly used to find the slope of the line when given two coordinate points.

Parallel and Perpendicular Lines Remember, Parallel lines have the same slope, Perpendicular lines have an opposite reciprocal slope. Also, Slope is equal to rise over run when looking at a graph

What is the opposite reciprocal of 4

Guided Notes FIRST EQUATION: Write the equation of the line that goes through the points (– 4, 4) and (8, –5).

Guided Notes Write the equation of the line that is parallel to line and goes through the point (4, 1).

Guided Notes Write the equation of the line that is perpendicular to the FIRST EQUATION and goes through the point (3, –6)

Write an equation of the line that passes through (4, -2) and is parallel to the line y = 3x -1.

Write an equation of the line that passes through (2, 4) and is parallel to the line y = -2x + 3.

Write an equation of the line that passes through (4, -2) and is perpendicular to the line y = 3x -1.

Write an equation of the line that passes through (2, 4) and is perpendicular to the line y = -2x + 3.
