Proposed Coastal Closure Closure is all 5 degree strata that intersect ( or nearly intersect) coastline, as shown next.

Rough approximation of change in mt of catch including discards (1994-2006 average data) is shown for reallocation of all sets from within the proposed coastal closed area to outside the closed area. The assumption is that all set types (dolphin, USA, and FO) are reallocated proportional to the mix of set types outside the closed area and that catch per set outside the closed area would be achieved by sets moved from inside the closed area. The percent changes do not take into account demographic consequences of changes in age-specific harvest, such as would occur by reducing the harvest of yellowfin tuna smaller than the critical size and increasing harvest of larger yellowfin tuna.
