Welcome – today we begin the Exciting world of excretion and The endocrine system!!! Please Dig out your note stuff.

Welcome – today FUN WITH STATIC !!! But first we must Finish your notes Please Dig out your note stuff.

Welcome – today FUN WITH STATIC !!! Luke?

Endocrine system – works closely With nervous system to maintain Regulation & homeostasis. Consists of many glands & organs That release hormones into blood stream

Hormones – special chemical Messages(usually liquids) sent to the body Through the blood – they are Shape specific .

Pituitary gland – “master gland” In base of brain. Controls all other glands In this system and growth. Thyroid gland – regulates Metabolism-secretes thyroxin

Adrenal glands – on top of kidneys Secrete adrenaline – increases  Blood sugar (strength rush) heart and respiration rate.

Isle of Langerhans – located in the Pancreas – releases insulin (lowers Blood sugar and glucagon (raises Blood sugar

Ovaries – secrete estrogen and Progesterone Estrogen – stimulates ovulation And secondary sexual characteristics Testes – testosterone – stimulates Sperm production and secondary Sexual characteristics.

Please Sketch This its On the quiz Pituitary Thyroid Adrenal glands Pancreas Testes-ovaries

Negative feedback – endocrine System operates on this mechanism The level of one hormone in the Blood causes another hormone to Be released or not. Ex = blood Sugar is high – insulin is released By pancreas To lower it to keep homeostasis `

Excretory System Excretion – removal of wastes Produced by the bodies cells (metabolic waste) Excretory system – includes skin Lungs, kidneys and liver

Kidneys – filter waste from the Blood. Composed of thousands Of filtering units called nephrons

All the bodies blood is constantly Passed through the kidneys to Have wastes filtered out. ( Every 7 minutes) Ureters – tubes that carry waste (urine) to the bladder from kidney Bladder – stores urine

Urethra – expells urine Kidney Ureters Bladder Urethra

Kidney Ureter Bladder Urethra

Skin - sweat glands – excrete water Salt and urea. – Sweating regulates Body temp = maintains ??????? Lungs – excrete CO2 and water Vapor

Liver – breaks down amino acids (proteins) and old red blood cells and filters toxins from digested food - Has over 500 other jobs.

This is a liver of a person with???
