Electromagnetic scattering by cylinders of topological insulators Lixin Ge, Tianrong Zhan, and Jian Zi Department of Physics and Surface Physics Laboratory, Fudan University, Shanghai 200433, People’s Republic of China Topological insulators (TI) are new quantum states of matter with insulating bulk states and gapless edge states which is protected by time reversal invariant symmetry. The distinguished electromagnetic response of TI is the Topological Magnetoelectric (TME) Effect. Here, we explore the fundamental EM scattering problem of TI which may provide a new optical way to detect the TME effect. Calculating Method: Lorentz-Mie theory TI Top view Result 2:Oscillating scattering efficiency Result 1:Backward scattering enhancement Result 3: Polarization shift Conclusions
