Key Question: How and why do Hindus hold funerals? Do Now Task: ‘We should not mourn loved ones’. Do you agree? Give reasons or evidence for your answer. What does the class think? Thumbs up or down?

Karma, death and funeral rites Task: As a pair, read through the information provided on ‘Hindu beliefs about Atman and Karma’ and ‘Old age and Death ’. Complete all comprehension tasks attached to the information sheets. Challenge: Create a Venn Diagram to show the similarities and differences between Christian and Hindu beliefs about life after death. Include information on how funerals are conducted.
