Factsheet: Renewable Energy Targets EU 2020 Target is 20% of final energy consumption from renewable sources by 2020 Different EU nations contribute different proportions to the overall EU target. The UK has pledged 15% The UK vote to leave the EU was followed by huge cuts in government renewables subsidies In June 2016 the UK backed the world leading climate target, adopting the 5th Carbon Budget to cut emissions by 57% by 2032 (based on 1990 levels) The CCC report states UK emission cuts are in line with the Climate Change Act to cut CO2 emissions by 80% by 2050
